Wiltshire Council via the ‘Connecting Wiltshire’ branding has an online presence that can be viewed at: http://www.connectingwiltshire.co.uk/ . The website attempts to deliver a ‘one stop shop’ for sustainable transport information within Wiltshire. This website was created in 2014 as part of a suite of measures delivered under the Local Sustainable Transport Fund and continues to attract around 7000 page views/month. The website is hosted externally from the council and officers use WordPress to update page content and news periodically, alongside a social media element that is updated regularly.
The original developer no longer provides maintenance for the site and the hosting agreement (whilst currently extended) will come to an end at the end of June 2019.
Wiltshire Council is keen to maintain this facility and to look towards updating and modernising the content, aesthetics and technology of the current website, whilst maintaining the established branding of the product.
The website previously featured a bespoke Journey Planner that has been replaced by links to Google Maps. The ability to connect to a third party journey planner will need to be maintained but the council are open to other sources or solutions.
The council is seeking quotations based upon a new website containing most of the current content with maintenance, hosting and WordPress CMS preferably. In addition, suggestions on design and interaction improvements are welcomed.
